After Food is a three part installation; The Alley, The Sanctum and The Digestion Salon which focus on the experiences following the act of eating. This mindful and present exploration, nudges guests towards contemplating their overall health and the far-reaching impacts of food beyond just eating. Moreover, this installation serves as a reflective conclusion to Rewilding the Kitchen’s projects, emphasising the importance of introspection and the broader effects of our food choices, nuanced histories, alchemy and emotions on our minds and bodies.
The Alley beckons guests to answer questions, annotating prompts spread across a wall, The Sanctum transforms the toilet into a beacon of facts around stool, peppered with traditional scents used to ward off unpleasant smells. In the Digestion Salon, guests can finally sit and enjoy coolers that are healing on the body.

Participating in Alserkal Avenue’s What The Food, Farah Nasrawi, kōl, Luchie Suguitan, Bhavika Bhatia, Richi Bhatia, Andrew Riad and Nahla Tabbaa (with Moza Almatrooshi, Salma Serry and Namliyeh) elaborated on Andrew’s previous workshop, Egyptifying Petit Fours. The tea-party was curated to activate a site for collective reflections and informal discussions around an imagined tea party in an attempt to decolonise the ‘tea party’ as we know it. The tablescape was an imagined menu of drinks and snacks absent of ever being colonised.
na'nā' & buqala is the kōl project's new take on the poetry and mint tea traditions in North Africa, proposing variations around the Algerian buqala ceremonial and tea without tea leaves.
kōl (Zina Akrout & Fouad Boudjedra) is the new addition to the UAE’s culinary arts menu, a cutting-edge food curation collective freshly launched into the vibrant, ever-evolving landscape of gastronomy.
Just as an artist uses a canvas, kōl views the culinary realm as our playground, turning to food as a historical, political, and social medium. We believe in the power of food to stir emotions, evoke memories, and transcend cultural boundaries.
